Sasha Von Scherler, actress, 65

NEW YORK (AP) - Sasha Von Scherler, an actress who appeared in more than 100
productions in the city, died Saturday of lung disease. She was 65.

Von Scherler first set foot on stage in an amateur production in Tokyo.

She later attended the Yale School of Drama and made her professional debut
at the Cherry Lane Theater in 1956, in George Bernard Shaw's ``Admirable
Bashville.'' It was the first of a long line of plays over the next two
decades.

She played Mrs. Brown in Eugene O'Neill's ``Great God Brown'' in 1959,
Olivia in Joseph Papp's ``Twelfth Night'' in Central Park in 1969, and
Avonia Bunn on three separate productions of ``Trelawney of the Wells.''

To help support her acting, Von Scherler appeared in several soap operas,
and in 1995 she appeared in ``Party Girl,'' a film written and director by
her daughter.
