Douglas Green, ``Hawaii Five-0'' exec producer, dies
MONTEREY, Calif. (Reuters) - Douglas Edward Green, executive producer of the
``Hawaii Five-0'' television series, died from kidney failure in a Monterey
nursing home on April 11, his family said Thursday.
Green, 78, had moved to Carmel, a seaside resort adjacent to Monterey, from
Honolulu eight years ago.
Born in Hollywood, he spent 35 years in the motion picture and television
industry. He started out as a second assistant director at Universal Studios
and capped his career as executive producer of ``Hawaii Five-0.''
The series became one of the longest, continuous-run police shows in
television history -- airing from 1968 to 1980. Its star, Jack Lord, died in
1998.
Green was a member of the Directors Guild of America and Phi Kappa Psi
Fraternity. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and son, Douglas Green Jr.
No funeral or memorial services are planned. The family said his ashes will
be scattered off Oahu, Hawaii.
