WASHINGTON (AP) - Eric Hampton, a leading Washington choreographer and
dance teacher, died Feb. 20 of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou
Gehrig's disease (news - web sites). He was 54.
Hampton founded his own company in 1991. During the 1960s, he performed in
Europe with the Netherlands Dance Company and the Scapino Ballet. He
settled in Washington in 1978 and became soloist and resident
choreographer for the Washington Ballet.
