David Graf, Tackleberry in 'Police Academy,' dead

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- David Graf, a character actor best known for
playing the overzealous officer Tackleberry in the "Police Academy" movies,
died Saturday of a heart attack while attending a family wedding in Arizona.
He was 50.

Graf moved to Los Angeles in 1980 and began landing film roles and TV guest
spots. He costarred as the militantly aggressive Tackleberry in "Police
Academy" in 1984, and he appeared in the film franchise's six sequels over
the next decade.

Graf played military officers in last year's "Rules of Engagement" and in a
recurring role on TV's "The West Wing."

In 1994, Graf played Tom Arnold in the TV movie "Roseanne: An Unauthorized
Biography." His other television credits included guest spots on "Touched by
an Angel," "Sports Night," "Becker" and "Caroline in the City."

Among Graf's other film credits were "Guarding Tess," "The Brady Bunch
Movie," "Citizen Ruth" and "Irreconcilable Differences."
