Maker of Ohio ribs, favored by Bob Hope, dies

CINCINNATI (Reuters) - An Ohio restaurateur who shipped barbecue
spareribs to Bob Hope every week for years has died, his family said
Monday.

Ted Gregory died Sunday at 78 of complications from diabetes.

Ribs from his Montgomery Inn became a Hope favorite when the
entertainer was in Cincinnati to play in charity golf events years ago.
To this day, the 98-year-old comedian receives weekly deliveries of the
barbecued ribs at his home in Palm Springs, Calif.

Gregory, son of Greek immigrants, became known as a rib king thanks to
a piquant barbecue sauce developed by his wife, Matula and still
closely guarded as a trade secret.

Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday at Holy Trinity/St.
Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Finneytown, Ohio.
