Son of late Bob Hope, Tony, dies

LOS ANGELES -- Anthony J. "Tony" Hope, the son of late entertainer Bob
Hope and former head of the National Indian Gaming Commission, has died
in a hospital near his home in Washington, D.C., his sister said here
Wednesday. He was 63.
Hope died Monday at Washington Hospital Center after a brief
undisclosed illness, Linda Hope said. It comes nearly a year after the
death of Bob Hope, who was 100 when he died of pneumonia at his
suburban Toluca Lake home on July 27, 2003.
Tony Hope made a run in politics in 1986. He entered the California
congressional race to fill the seat vacated by Rep. Bobbi Fiedler,
R-Northridge. Hope was upset in the primary by little known Simi Valley
Mayor Elton Gallegly, who went on to win the general election.
Hope worked for years in Washington, where he was a partner with the
Touche Ross & Co. accounting firm. He had worked at 20th Century Fox as
director of business affairs. before moving to Washington.>
Hope, who also had a home in Hilton Head, S.C., grew up in suburban
North Hollywood and graduated from Georgetown University and Harvard
Law School. He also served in the Air Force.
Besides his sister Linda, Hope is survived by his wife of 12 years,
Paula Nickey Hope; his son Zachary Hope of Santa Monica; his daughter
Miranda Hope of Washington, D.C.; his mother Dolores Hope of Los
Angeles; and his brother William Kelly Hope of Oakland.
A private funeral was plan-ned. Instead of flowers, the family ask
donations be made to the National Institute of Transplantation in Los
