Please book your rooms immediately as the rate will increase this
weekend after the postcards are mailed out
Sven and I are not running the booking of rooms or any budgetary
elements of this event. This event is held by the caliente tropics
and Sven and I are strong supporters of what they have done and are
doing.
That said, here are all the details that some of you have been asking for
What follows is a brief description of the intention of the event by
me, the schedule, synopsis of the Hawaiian Eye episode that is
airing, then descriptions of the live musical acts. There are also a
few other musicians attending so jam sessions might happen.

Seek the Tiki Oasis, 2002 is a full-fledged Tiki gathering at an
original Tiki hotel
This hotel is Mecca for Tiki fans and the event that we have in store
for you will be the Tiki experience of the year, if not your lifetime.
Last year we only had a couple months to throw together the show and
get the word out. Those that attended realized that they had made the
right decision when they found themselves surrounded by a few dozen
Tiki followers floating around in the pool under the watchful eye of
a Tiki God. At 8 pm with cocktails in hand, still in the pool, we all
enjoyed Sven's educational-yet-humorous slide presentation and the
ensuing Hawaiian Eye episode.
This year's event will be similar but with more of everything. Here's
the schedule:

Lushy, a cocktail of sound best described as basement lounge.
The 5 piece group from Seattle features an array of musical instruments,
a special brand of loop de loops and vocals. This will be their first
Southern California gig. Hear and see them at www.lushy.com
The He'e Amakuas
After stealing the show everywhere from the local senior center to
ultra-hip young urbanite soirees, hapa hoales Iuka Grogg (vocals and
ukelele), Mika'ele Loco Moco (guitar and vocals), with the caressing
grass skirt and swaying hips of The Mysterious Miss
Mauna Loa as well as the provocative bass stylings of
former Bombora Lord Hunt, bring the sweetest of old Hawaiian tunes to
the sandy dunes of the desert.
King Kukulele
After playing shows in Livermore, CA; Columbus, OH; Hollywood; Las
Vegas; London; Belgium; Osaka, Japan and The Orange County Fair crazy
King Kukulele really doesn't need an introduction, so let's just say
he is the most famous of the Tiki Oasis performers and you will find
out why when he bursts into song and dance and comedy rants right
before your eyes.
